Lauren Schneidewent
LAC, Therapist
I hold the belief that all people have the capacity for growth and that therapy can be a helpful tool in achieving it. With your expertise of your own experiences and my training in mental health, I strive to establish a collaborative relationship where we can clarify your unique goals and determine meaningful avenues for change. My mission is to do so in a way that promotes empowerment, reduces shame, and builds upon your unique skills and strengths!
I see clients from all walks of life, and find myself drawn to topics of: anxiety, perfectionism, self-esteem, trauma, grief (and disenfranchised grief), dissociation, and life transitions. I also take special interest in helping clients improve their relationship with money by exploring core beliefs and creating more adaptive financial behaviors.
My counseling model pulls from several approaches, including: Person-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), “parts work”, and somatic therapies. In our work together, I find it so valuable to build skills that regulate your nervous system and create an inner framework to disrupt default cycles of thought. I am also keen on using creativity and experiential exercises to help you discover new ways of being in the world.
I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Arizona University and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Arizona State University. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy paddle boarding, interior design, thrifting, and tending to my many houseplants!
