Our Specialties

  • Hannah Sweeney, LCSW, is now offering limited availability for couples counseling, providing a safe and supportive space for partners to deepen their connection and address challenges together. Whether you're navigating communication struggles, relationship dynamics, or seeking guidance to strengthen your partnership, Hannah is here to help.

  • We live in anxious and frenetic times.  As a result many suffer with anxiety or depression that affects their ability to live rich, full and connected lives. At Cultivate Counseling  our hope is to  provide our clients with resources to develop healthy  and full lives while building up coping strategies to manage and overcome anxious or depressed thoughts and feelings.  Whether it is worries and concerns related to life issues, feelings of disconnection or loneliness, or anxiety related to PTSD. We collaborate with our clients to increase a sense of safety, connectedness and reduced stress. We know that anxiety and depression often live on opposite ends of the same continuum and treat the oscillation between the two ends.

  • If you are feeling disconnected in the present because of difficult experiences from the past, trauma therapy can bring the necessary healing to invite you to re-engage with your life. You are never required to share the details of your trauma but are invited to look at how your life is being presently impacted and begin with re-establishing a sense of safety in yourself and with others. We work together to develop new coping skills and create the life you’ve always wanted to live but has always seemed out of your grasp. We are passionate about helping survivors of trauma overcome the power that their past experiences have had. We do this work because it is ripe with hope and we see healing day after day.

  • At Cultivate, EMDR is one of our main forms of treatment we utilize when treating trauma. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a trauma therapy developed by psychologist Dr. Francine Shapiro. EMDR involves recalling a stressful past event and reprogramming the memory into a positive, self-chosen belief while using bilateral stimulation to facilitate the process. At the time of a traumatic event, strong emotions interfere with our ability to process the experience and the memory becomes stuck in time. When we are triggered and we recall the traumatic event we may feel as though we are reliving the event. These memories cause a negative impact on our daily functioning and interfere with the way we see ourselves, the world, and how we relate to others. EMDR therapy can release these stuck memories allowing you to resolve them. Over time the disturbing memory and associated beliefs, feelings, and sensations become resolved and you are able to think about the event without reliving it. The memory will still be there but it will cause less distress.

During an EMDR therapy session, you focus on the traumatic memory and the associated negative emotions and beliefs while participating in a form of bilateral stimulation. Some forms of bilateral stimulations are: tracking your therapist’s moving finger with your eyes as it moves back and forth, alternating hand taps, or bilateral tactile sensation.

  • If you find yourself feeling fragmented or stuck, as though different parts of you are in conflict or disconnected, Parts Work and Internal Family Systems (IFS) can offer a powerful path toward healing. Many of us carry internal "parts"—aspects of ourselves formed in response to past experiences, especially trauma—each with their own emotions, beliefs, and coping mechanisms. These parts can often be at odds with one another, leading to internal tension and difficulty moving forward in life.

In IFS therapy, we work together to understand these parts, listen to their needs, and foster a compassionate relationship with them. By helping you reconnect with and heal the wounded parts of yourself, you can begin to feel more whole and aligned in the present. This process invites healing by creating a deeper sense of safety and self-awareness, allowing you to rebuild trust in yourself and others.

Through IFS, we create space for you to release the emotional burdens that have shaped your sense of self and empower you to embrace your authentic, resilient core. This work helps you understand and integrate all parts of who you are, creating a more harmonious and fulfilling life. Led by Melissa Dohse LCSW, a level 1 IFS Institute Trained clinician, our team is trained to provide compassionate, effective care to help you manage symptoms and regain control of your life.

  • Dissociation can often feel like living in two worlds—one where you feel disconnected from your body, emotions, or memories, and another where life seems unreal or out of control. Whether it shows up as feeling detached, numb, or experiencing memory gaps, dissociation can be a coping mechanism developed in response to overwhelming experiences, particularly trauma. Over time, this disconnection can interfere with your ability to fully engage with life, relationships, and your sense of self.

At Cultivate, we specialize in helping individuals who struggle with dissociation. We understand how trauma can cause you to feel fragmented, as though parts of yourself are hidden or unreachable. Our approach is grounded in compassion and safety, offering a space where you can gradually reconnect with the parts of you that feel lost or disconnected. We work with you to help you understand the underlying causes of dissociation and gently guide you through the process of reintegration—one step at a time.

Healing from dissociation requires building trust and safety within yourself and with others. We offer tailored therapeutic techniques, including trauma-informed therapies like EMDR and Parts Work, to help you address the root causes of dissociation and begin the process of reconnection. By working with your mind and body together, we help you re-establish a sense of wholeness and control in your life, so you can begin to experience the world more fully and with greater peace.

Led by Alexandria Bangert, LPC and dissociation expert, our goal is to help you reclaim your life and restore the connection to your true self. At Cultivate, we believe healing from dissociation is not only possible—it is transformative.

  • Postparum

Having a baby is one of the most life changing experiences you will ever go through. It reorients your entire life in ways that are exciting, beautiful, and naturally overwhelming. The postpartum period can be unexpectedly difficult in a culture that primarily focuses on preparing the mother for birth but not for what life will look like after that baby has arrived. If you are feeling overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, or having thoughts that trouble you, you are not alone, you are not to blame, and with help you will be well. With certification in Postpartum Support International it would be an honor to support you on your journey to wellness.

    Parenting

Being a parent is one of the most demanding jobs in the world and one we are not allowed to just walk away from and quit. It asks all of us, all the time. If you experienced a difficult childhood, trying to parent differently from what you saw role modeled is a courageous challenge and a road you should not have to walk alone. If you find yourself falling back into old patterns that you experienced as a child, checking out when your children feel like too much, or not knowing where to even begin, let’s talk. Together we can create new strategies to engage with your children in safe and empowering ways.

Hannah Hackett, LAC

I love humans and our messy, beautiful journeys here on earth with all our humanity. When we are provided spaces to be held, seen, and loved in our humanity, powerful things take place. As a therapist I am dedicated to providing compassionate and empathetic support for individuals navigating their unique journeys. My belief in the power of genuine connection and being seen underscores my intention to create a safe and nurturing space where you can explore, reflect, be, and heal.

As a counseling generalist, I find joy in working with diverse individuals across their lifespans and addressing various challenges. In my work, I believe looking at societal factors, systems of power, and cultural narratives that influence our mental health is as important as the individual ones. Guided by person-centered, social-constructivist, and gestalt counseling, my practice integrates various modalities, including mindfulness and somatics. Rejecting a pathologizing approach, I view symptoms as natural adaptations to life's challenges. Together, we can delve into these dynamics with curiosity, kindness, and a willingness to grow.

I received my Masters Degree from Prescott College. Outside of counseling, I love doing yoga, spending time in nature, and building community. I look forward to starting our journey together.

Hannah Sweeney, LCSW, Individual and Couples Therapist

As a therapist, my focus is creating an authentic space where genuine expression thrives. This environment allows for a strong therapeutic bond, which is shown in the research to be the greatest predictor of positive client change. I value authenticity, clarity of communication, gentle self accountability, and honesty with self and within the therapeutic dynamic.

While I take a flexible approach to treatment, I commonly use the following orientations: EMDR and parks work for trauma reprocessing, Emotion Focused Therapy and attachment theory lenses to explore relational and emotional depths, somatic and mindfulness based inquiries to support embodiment and present moment awareness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to increase overall awareness of self and the internal experience.

I am also seeing couples on a limited basis, and utilize an Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) approach to couples work. This orientation is rooted in attachment theory and supports couples in restructuring their emotional bonds to rewrite painful patterns and increase emotional attunement.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Arizona, and a Licensed Masters Social Work in Nevada. I received both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Reno. Through the versatile knowledge I’ve gathered in different areas of my career, I’ve found I am drawn to supporting trauma survivors and those healing from complex emotional experiences.

Out in the world, you’ll find me in nature, expressing my heart through creation and movement.

Hannah Sweeney, LCSW

Lorena Lechuga-Gutierrez, LPC, Bi-Lingual Therapist

Stories are one of the primary reasons why I chose to enter this profession and, while I have only been a professional for part of my life, I have been listening to peoples stories for a long time. I believe stories is where our humanity rests and stories display the full range of our complexity and connection as humans. I feel honored and humbled to be a listener of people’s unique stories; to cultivate a space for someone to feel safe, to be vulnerable, and share whatever dimension of their story they are writing or editing. I seek to empower clients to see themselves as the experts and authors of their life whether their journey inward is beginning or continuing.

My orientation as a counselor is to serve all communities in need with authenticity, curiosity, and cultural humility. I have experience supporting individuals facing the hidden pandemics of our time: anxiety, trauma (intergenerational, cultural, racial, childhood, and other forms), depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and family system dynamics. I provide services in both English and Spanish languages to clients based on their preferred and primary preferences.

I have a Bachelors in Psychological Sciences, Bachelors in Criminology and Criminal Justice; and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Arizona University. In my life I value and integrate social justice and diversity equity advocacy, poetry, music, art, cooking, nature, and climbing.

I am currently in network with BCBS, United Healthcare and most Aetna plans.
