Lorena Lechuga-Gutierrez
LPC, Bi-Lingual Therapist
Stories are one of the primary reasons why I chose to enter this profession and, while I have only been a professional for part of my life, I have been listening to peoples stories for a long time. I believe stories is where our humanity rests and stories display the full range of our complexity and connection as humans. I feel honored and humbled to be a listener of people’s unique stories; to cultivate a space for someone to feel safe, to be vulnerable, and share whatever dimension of their story they are writing or editing. I seek to empower clients to see themselves as the experts and authors of their life whether their journey inward is beginning or continuing.
My orientation as a counselor is to serve all communities in need with authenticity, curiosity, and cultural humility. I have experience supporting individuals facing the hidden pandemics of our time: anxiety, trauma (intergenerational, cultural, racial, childhood, and other forms), depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and family system dynamics. I provide services in both English and Spanish languages to clients based on their preferred and primary preferences.
I have a Bachelors in Psychological Sciences, Bachelors in Criminology and Criminal Justice; and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Arizona University. In my life I value and integrate social justice and diversity equity advocacy, poetry, music, art, cooking, nature, and climbing.
